Wrong time, wrong place

Remember when your mother told you that there was nothing good waiting out there for you at two-thirty in the morning? She was talking about stuff like this (link to St. Louis Post Dispatch article defunct):

Two St. Louis police officers intervened in a shooting outside a nightclub early today and ended up in a gunfight, wounding four men, authorities said.

The incident happened about 2:30 a.m. outside Spruill’s, at the corner of North Jefferson Avenue and Stoddard Street. [...]

Two uniformed officers working as security guards for Spruill’s saw about three men firing shots at another man outside the club. That victim, 28, was shot at least three times and was in critical condition at a hospital.

The officers engaged in a shootout with several men, who, after a flurry of shots, jumped into a car and drove to St. Louis University Hospital. There, police arrested the driver and discovered that four men with him had been shot.

Sounds like the joint’s always jumpin’ at Spruill’s:

The incident was the second police-involved shooting at Spruill’s in less than three weeks. On Sept. 24, a St. Louis police officer working as a security guard wounded a 22-year-old man who had just shot another man in a fight outside the club at about 2:30 a.m.

Remember, that’s the corner of Jefferson and Stoddard. Don’t forget your flak jacket!
