I have Vista on my work computer and my laptop. I have no problems with it at all, and in fact I like a lot of the changes, although I still haven’t figured out how to do anything other than a quick search. On the other hand, I haven’t yet tried researching to find out how it’s done. I’ve muddled along for 10 years as a self-taught user. No reason to change now.

Sounds like selling operating systems is a lot like everything else in our wonderful world. People pay more attention to rumor and gossip than actual fact. I don’t know what Vista’s like for Big Users, but for little ol’ me, it works just fine.

I’ve never used it. Home is an all-Mac shop and my glacially-paced work environment uses XP. By the time work adopts Vista, Microsoft will have moved on to a clairvoyance-based interface that doesn’t need screens at all.

I can’t back this up at all, but I think that complaints about computer stuff - as opposed to complaints about books, movies, and politicians - are based on actual use or experience rather than hearsay. The few folks that I know who use Vista - techies and geeks, all of them - feel as you do; they like Vista just fine. But there are a lot of angry anti-Vista voices out there…

I saw a (the? is there only one?) Bill Gates/Jerry Seinfeld tv ad last night during <i>Mad Men</i>, and it was … weird.

On the other hand, it was an ad about … nothing.

But seeing Bill Gates wiggle his booty or hips or whatever he was doing…

Weird.

Weird.
