Tim Russert

Oliver Willis heard a rumor that Tim Russert of NBC’s Meet the Press died of an apparent heart attack. The New York Post says it’s so. Waiting for confirmation…

…and Wonkette says the NY Times concurs. More to come, obviously.

More: MSNBC confirms Russert’s death - no further details immediately available - and posts a bio. The Washington Post finally takes note, as does CNN.

This will be the topic for a while, understandably. People die suddenly every day, and it’s the famous who get the press because they are, well, famous. It doesn’t and shouldn’t diminish the shock of any unexpected death, though, or temper feelings of condolence for the friends, family, and colleagues of the departed.

Love him and his work - or not - Russert was an important element of the modern political landscape, and now that landmark is gone.
