Risky business

It’s always been my opinion that half the problems in this world stem from bad or inaccurate analogies. We compare our relationship to person X to the orbit of a planet around its sun, for example, when instead we might more properly liken it to the spiral of a moth into a flame. Bad analogies blind us to the truth about the world, whereas good analogies provide insight into the nature of things. The murkier the subject, the better the analogy must be.
This is where the bone comes in. He has provided us with the ultimate analogy for understanding America’s place in the world today. Ladies and gentlemen: The Bush Doctrine as Risk Game.
