Since it’s unlikely that Kevin Drum will pass the Meme of Four quizzie-thing directly to me, I’ll just steal it.
Four jobs you’ve had in your life: Bookstore clerk, transcriber for a blind attorney, dishwasher, cook/waiter
Four movies you could watch over and over: Fargo, Tombstone, The Day the Earth Stood Still, The Lord of the Rings trilogy (which really counts as three, but what the hell)
Four places you’ve lived (as opposed to merely visited, as in two questions hence): Georgetown, SC; Whiteman AFB, MO; St. Louis and environs…only three, I’m afraid
Four TV shows you love to watch: House, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, The Bernie Mac Show…again, only three, unless you count NFL telecasts; The Amazing Race used to be on this list, but times have changed
Four places you’ve been on vacation: London, Paris, Seattle, Portland (OR)
Four websites you visit daily: The first four I hit every day - AMERICAblog, Daily KOS, Eschaton, The News Blog. I do visit others daily, but you only asked for four
Four of your favorite foods: Not recipes, just foods? Chicken. Burgers. Fries. Salmon.
Four places you’d rather be: Bath. Portland (OR). Charleston (SC, the historic district). And, at the moment, my house in Dogtown.
Who volunteers to catch the meme next? As they say in the military: You, you, and you.

Done! :)
Done, SIR!
Interesting how revealing these things are.
The Day the Earth Stood Still was the first movie I ever LOVED. I was a kid when I first saw it, back in the day when our opportunities for viewing a particular movie were highly limited: see it in the theater or see it when the networks deigned to show it. So my first viewing had to hold me a long, long time, and that movie loomed large in my imagination for YEARS. Its value as a movie is probably not equivalent to the effect it had on me, if that makes any sense. I assume the thing’s on DVD. I should look into that. And Fargo? Yep, ya betcha. That would make my top 10 list.
What do you think of the “new” CI, with Chris Noth? It’s ok with me, but there’s really no one on TV quite like Bobby Goren. (Mike Logan looks like a less-metrosexual Mr. Big to me. Oh, wait…)
Transcriber for a blind attorney My first thought was Raymond Carver’s short story “Cathedral.” I don’t suppose he ever showed up at your house and made your wife jealous, in the process leading you to totally alter your narrow worldview? No, I didn’t think so.
Bitty:
I wasn’t much of a L&O watcher back when Noth was a regular there, and I have never seen a single episode of Sex & the City (which is not as exceptional as it sounds; we don’t have cable/satellite/what-have-you), so he has no track record with me. My initial reaction to the addition of Noth and the rather handsome Annabella Sciorra could be best summed up as “bitter and resentful”…though I’ve seen a couple of their episodes and have dialed the feeling down to “ehh.” It’s okay, but it’s just another cop show when they’re on, while the D’Onofrio/Erbe gestalt is…well, something else again. To be fair, though, it is early in their tenure, and I remember being initially irritated that the show seemed to revolve around Goren’s genius. So things can change, I guess.
Boy, that was wordy.
You know, I’ve never read “Cathedral.” When Carver was alive and everywhere, I was into an anti-minimalist thing. Hey, everyone had to be into something. I’ve read some of his stories since then, but not this one.
