Nancy Miller, RIP
I have been busy most of the day, and so have been unable until now to remark on the murder of former Post-Dispatch Lifestyle editor Nancy Miller. An update at the paper’s website indicates that a suspect has been arrested; I imagine tomorrow’s paper will provide more details.
I told my wife about Miller’s death this morning, and she was very sad. M always enjoyed the Lifestyle section while it was published under Miller’s direction.
I never met Miller, and didn’t know much about her. Based on the account of her life and career in the paper, though, as well as the effect her work had on a reader like M, it’s clear that the city - and the community that makes up the Post-Dispatch - has suffered a cruel loss.

I, too, knew Nancy Miller only through her writing in the Lifestyle section of the Post Dispatch. I felt like she was a friend and always looked forward to her columns every Saturday. I was shocked and horrified at her brutal murder and can only hope that the family she leaves behind all realize what a treasure she was, who could affect strangers this deeply.
Like you, Mary, I hope her family can take some deserved comfort in what she obviously meant to many.
I know things like this happen every day and everywhere…but it’s no less a shame for all that.
