The lede:
A man on a bicycle was unable to outrace two gunmen and eight bullets Sunday night.
If you didn’t know from the link that this florid bit of journalism came from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch (link now defunct), you’d swear you were reading the Evening Whirl.
