The behind-the-scenes process of embiggening at Waveflux has ended; the enduring condition of hyoogeness now begins.
What’s that? No idea what I’m talking about? Things still look pretty much the same here? Well, this is largely so - but the minor addition of links beneath the heading “Affinitive” (to your right, my left) will make everything clear.
Over time, it came to me that one weblog was not quite venue enough for my little enthusiasms. More space was needed for diverse purposes, and so like Eve and her three faces or Dr. Lao and his seven, the Waveflux personality has multiplied.
The Last Homely House is a true spinoff of the original blog, and is in part a refined distillation: domestic stuff only. All the posts (or just about all) from Waveflux that dealt with the joys and misadventures of homeowning, posts on home repair and renovation, entries on and pictures of the four cats that run the joint, and the ordinary exchanges between me and my lovely wife - all those posts and their accompanying comments have been duplicated in the new houseblog. Actually, it’s more accurate to call it a “home” blog, inasmuch as houseblogs are primarily about the tearing down and fixing up of the old domicile, while The Last Homely House is about actually, you know, living there.
I’d hoped to have this blog done by Valentine’s Day - I’m just a softie, apparently - but the whole hyoogeness thing was temporarily derailed by (one) hiccups with the upgrade to the latest version of Movable Type and (two) a decision to use a new set of design templates. In the words of Capt. Jack Sparrow: complications arose, ensued, were overcome.
The upshot is that any reader who’s ever wanted to keep up with the domestic stuff without having to wade through tirades about Bush or boasts about fantasy football teams can now just go straight to the good stuff. Any domestic-type post that’s written for Waveflux will also be at the new home blog…but The Last Homely House will have some content not duplicated here.
The other two blogs are really web-dash-logs in a purer sense, dedicated to recording the fundamental and unglamorous daily work of exercise and of writing. There’ll be plenty of opportunities in those blogs for me to blather on expound generally on aspects of those subjects, but at heart those new sites are basically concerned with production - so many pounds lifted, so many words scribbled or typed - and about recording that output here in the luminiferous aether for anyone to see.
A little fine-tuning remains to be done at the new blogs, but that’s stuff that can be done on the fly. No need to put off launching the blogs any longer.
Is the embiggening complete, then? Is Waveflux is hyooge as it’s going to get? Are these questions at heart rhetorical? Actually, there’s a bit more to come - but impending changes are more evolutionary than revolutionary, I think. We’ll talk about them in due course.
Update: Those plans, of course, mostly went by the boards. But the houseblog will return.

So I’ve been a little cynical about all this hyoogeness, especially since I wasn’t seeing much that was different and it was taking its good ol’ time. I haven’t even gone clicking on those links yet, but I think I’m gonna like this.
Phil to the fourth power. It’s even alliterative.
