Aiiieeeee!* Gojira!
Beautiful. Just beautiful.
So M and I are wandering around the DVD section at Best Buy, and M’s saying something or other about Godzilla. “There’s a re-release out, I read about it somewhere,” she says. I don’t know what she’s talking about; this is news to me.
Then we turn a corner and there it is: the utterly awesome deluxe edition of Gojira, the classic Japanese monster movie finally made available on DVD. She hands me a copy. It includes the Americanized version featuring an inserted Raymond Burr and loads of commentary. It comes in a beautiful case which I am having trouble seeing because tears of joy blur my vision.
“I have the best wife in the whole world,” I say.
“You certainly do,” my wife replies.
(Not to be confused with the 1974 story anthology.)
